“The Earth’s Wild Bones Feel More Alive Here” were words already nestled in my spirit, adapted from a memory of exploring Utah two years ago with the wild eyed man. Back then, watching the full moon slip slowly, perfectly through that U shape in the rocks — the Milky Way peppering the velvet sky, nobody else around besides the desert nightlife. That moment was the start of the Canyon Woman — she didn’t know the places she’d go, the love she’d find, or the fleeting moments of beauty.
Now, that memory rests different on this Lionheart. I’m on the verge of my own canyon, my own wild eyes leading me down the unknown trail. The full moon is the Wild Woman rising. You can’t take your eyes off her captivating and curious spirit, as she rises through the desert. The Lionheart. The earth’s old bones coming alive, as she runs through the dust in the night, underneath the peppered velvet sky. She’s seeking more than ever before... and oh, what she is going to find for herself. This collection is all of me — but it’s all for you and your own trail, too. This is the Lionheart Canyon... and the earth’s old bones are alive for you.
This collection features exquisite textures inspired by the patterns found in the desert— intentionally woven with sari silk, frayed cotton ribbon, cotton cord, chiffon, avocado dyed wool & fabric, hand torn velvet, Belgian wool, and cut fabric. Wild, rolling, generously colored. Some mimic the dusty red rocks, others the hazy desert skies following a heavy rain, another the sage greens found in the impossible juniper trees.
This collection was released into the world on August 29, 2020, and every single work was sold in a mere 36 hours. Overwhelmingly grateful for the support and reception to these twelve woven wall hangings, and that you found as much meaningful beauty in these as I do. Thank you.
